Fingernail Fungus:
Cover It and Care for It
Fingernail fungus (onychomycosis of the hand) discolors, thickens or lifts the nail, and it’s harder to clear than it looks because the nail itself shields the fungus underneath. The plan that actually works covers and protects the damaged nail while it grows out, treats the surrounding skin so the infection can’t keep spreading, and stays consistent long enough to prevent it from coming back.
Your 3-part plan
Cover the nail
Our antifungal Press-On Nails, powered by undecylenic acid, cover the damaged nail and protect it while it grows out so you look better today, not months from now.
Treat the skin.
Water-soluble tolnaftate Spray and Soak treat the surrounding skin and keep athlete's foot from feeding the problem.
Prevent reinfection.
Spray your shoes, soak weekly, and keep protecting the nail. Fungus comes back when you stop too soon, consistency is the whole game.
What it looks like,
and why it shows up on
your hands
Fingernail fungus usually starts as a small white, yellow or brownish spot near the tip or edge of the nail. Left alone, it can spread across the nail, causing thickening, brittleness and a rough or crumbly texture. It’s less common than toenail fungus because hands dry out faster than feet, but it shows up more in people whose hands stay wet often dishwashing, frequent handwashing, swimming or after a cut, hangnail or manicure tool nicks the skin near the nail and lets fungus in.
Same problem as the toenail, smaller scale: the nail plate protects the fungus underneath it as well as it protects your finger, so surface treatments alone rarely reach it. Covering the nail while treating the skin around it is what actually moves the needle.
